After being selected as the primary TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution) solution provider to provide indoor coverage for all major areas at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China, Motorola recently announced that the company completed the first phase of OTA (Over-The-Air) TD-LTE field tests for China's MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), according to press release by Motorola on May 1. During the field tests, Motorola's TD-LTE demonstration network accomplished several achievements, indicating a major progress Motorola is achieving toward realizing the large-scale TD-LTE deployment.

 

Leveraging its OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) mobile broadband and TD-LTE solutions, Motorola stated that the company readies to kick off the second phase of TD-LTE field tests, focusing on applications and quality of service in Shunyi, Beijing, according to the same source. To date, Motorola has two R&D centers in China working on the development of TD-LTE, named the WBAS (Wireless Broadband Access Solutions) Hangzhou Center and WBTS (Wideband Base Transceiver System) China Center, which help Motorola provide a prompt response to tap the local need. In addition, the company recently passed TD-LTE key functionalities test initiated by a TD-LTE working group, which was set up by China's MIIT in June 2009 with three Chinese leading telecom operators China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom, along as well as other major industry companies.
